Glass pool fence in Oakville that keeps the pool safe and in view
A glass pool fence in Oakville has to pass the town’s enclosure rules and still let you see the water from the kitchen, and we build it to do both.
- 12 mm tempered glass
- 1.2 m minimum height
- Self-closing, self-latching gates
- Free on-site measure
Free on-site measure, in every city we serve
We come out, measure the real stairs, deck or entry and talk through the options at no cost. If you send photos first, you also get a same-day ballpark.
You approve a drawing before anything is cut
Every job starts with a dimensioned drawing that shows heights, spacing and finishes. If something looks wrong on paper, it gets fixed on paper.
One crew, from measure to install
Whoever measures your job is who installs it. You never explain the project twice or chase a subcontractor.
The details
What the enclosure has to do

The by-law comes first
Oakville’s pool enclosure by-law sets a minimum height of 1.2 m, measured from the outside of the enclosure. Gates have to be self-closing and self-latching, with the latch at least 1.22 m above the ground.
Other cities set their own numbers, such as 1.22 m in Vaughan. We confirm the rules for your municipality before we quote.
Gaps and openings
The by-law also limits openings, so the gaps between panels and at the ground are set on the drawing, not guessed on site. You see every gap and the gate swing on paper before the glass is ordered.
Frameless or framed around the water
Frameless panels give the cleanest view of the water, with nothing but spigots at the base. The same system is behind our frameless glass railing on decks and entries.
A framed glass fence costs less on long runs and takes knocks from pool toys and furniture well, since the frame carries the load. It uses the same posts and panels as a framed glass railing on a deck or balcony.
Tempered glass fence panels
Our standard panel is 12 mm tempered safety glass, and if one ever breaks it crumbles into small, blunt pieces instead of sharp shards. Low-iron glass removes the green edge, and frosted panels can screen the pump or a neighbour’s window.
A glass railing around the pool deck
Where the pool deck is raised, a glass railing around the pool can do two jobs: guard the drop and form part of the enclosure. We check that both sets of rules are met before we draw it.
How it works
How a job runs, from free quote to walk-through
Five steps, the same on every job, whether it’s a front step or a full deck.
-
1. Site measure
We come to your home and measure the actual stairs, deck or entry, free of charge. The written quote comes from real numbers, not a photo and a guess.
-
2. Drawing and free quote
You get a dimensioned drawing and a written, itemised quote for glass, posts, hardware and installation. Nothing is cut until you approve it.
-
3. Fabrication
We build the railing to the measured dimensions, so nothing gets trimmed to fit on site. Aluminum pickets are welded in the shop and powder-coated.
-
4. Installation
The same crew that measured your job installs it, usually in one day at a front entry and two to three days on a deck. We work through the winter, too.
-
5. Walk-through
We walk the finished railing with you and check every post, panel and fastener. Your written workmanship warranty comes with the final invoice.

Questions
Pool fence questions, answered
How tall does a glass pool fence in Oakville have to be?
At least 1.2 m, measured from the outside of the enclosure, under the town’s pool enclosure by-law. Gates must be self-closing and self-latching, with the latch at least 1.22 m above the ground.
Is a tempered glass fence safe around kids?
Yes, tempered safety glass has no rails or pickets to climb, and if a panel breaks it crumbles into small, blunt pieces. The self-closing, self-latching gate is what keeps young children out, so we test it at the walk-through.
Do I need a permit for a pool enclosure?
Yes, the town requires an enclosure permit before the pool is built or installed. We confirm your municipality’s rules before we quote, so the drawing matches what the inspector will check.
How long does a pool enclosure take to install?
The install itself usually takes one to three days, depending on the length of the run and the number of gates. From approved drawing to finished enclosure, plan on about three to five weeks, because glass lead time sets the pace.
Can you add glass to an existing pool deck?
Yes, panels can mount to an existing concrete or stone deck with core-drilled or surface-mounted spigots. We check the surface at the measure, because the glass is only as solid as what it’s fixed to.
Does glass around a pool get dirty?
Yes, pool water and rain leave spots, the same way they would on a window. A cloth and glass cleaner take care of it in minutes, and low-iron glass keeps the clear look without a green edge.
