Free on-site measure, in every city we serve
We come out, measure the real stairs, deck or entry and talk through the options at no cost. If you send photos first, you also get a same-day ballpark.
You approve a drawing before anything is cut
Every job starts with a dimensioned drawing that shows heights, spacing and finishes. If something looks wrong on paper, it gets fixed on paper.
One crew, from measure to install
Whoever measures your job is who installs it. You never explain the project twice or chase a subcontractor.
The details
What goes into a good stair run

Outside: front steps and deck stairs
Outdoor stair railings take snow, salt and a hand on every trip, so they need solid fixing and a finish that won’t flake. Railings for front steps can be glass, framed glass or welded aluminum, with posts core-drilled into concrete or stone.
Exterior stair railings follow the slope of your stair, with panels or pickets cut so the lines run parallel to the treads. Nothing is stepped awkwardly over each tread to make a kit fit.
Inside: staircases, landings and basements
Inside, glass railings for staircases replace dated wood spindles or a closed stair wall with something open that lets light through. Basement stair railings are often the simplest upgrade, with a wall-mounted rail and a short guard at the top.
The handrail matters most
Code asks for a rail a hand can close around: round, 30 to 43 mm across, set 865 to 1070 mm above the stair nosing. A stainless steel handrail in 316 stainless is our most common choice, mitred to follow the stair instead of stepping over it.
Lighting and details
- Stair and riser lighting built into the run
- Glass panels stepped to follow the stair rise
- Matching gates at the top or bottom of the stair
- Post caps in a matching or contrast finish
When the old one has to go
A stair guard that wobbles, rusts at the base or has gaps wider than 100 mm is the kind of thing a home inspection flags. Our railing replacement work puts a new system onto your existing steps without redoing the stairs.
How it works
How a job runs, from free quote to walk-through
Five steps, the same on every job, whether it’s a front step or a full deck.
-
1. Site measure
We come to your home and measure the actual stairs, deck or entry, free of charge. The written quote comes from real numbers, not a photo and a guess.
-
2. Drawing and free quote
You get a dimensioned drawing and a written, itemised quote for glass, posts, hardware and installation. Nothing is cut until you approve it.
-
3. Fabrication
We build the railing to the measured dimensions, so nothing gets trimmed to fit on site. Aluminum pickets are welded in the shop and powder-coated.
-
4. Installation
The same crew that measured your job installs it, usually in one day at a front entry and two to three days on a deck. We work through the winter, too.
-
5. Walk-through
We walk the finished railing with you and check every post, panel and fastener. Your written workmanship warranty comes with the final invoice.

Questions
Stair questions, answered
How long does a stair railing in Oakville take to install?
A front-step railing is usually installed in one day, and a longer interior or deck stair in one to three days. From approved drawing to install, plan on about two weeks for a front entry.
Are glass stair railings safe for kids?
Yes, tempered safety glass leaves no rails to climb and no gap wider than 100 mm. On stairs we add a graspable handrail, so there’s always something solid to hold.
Do you measure for free before quoting a staircase?
Yes, the on-site measure is free in every city we serve. We measure each step, the drop to grade and what the posts will fix into, so the quote holds.
Can you add a railing to basement stairs?
Yes, basement stairs are one of the quickest jobs we do, usually a wall-mounted handrail plus a short guard where the stair opens up. We fix into solid backing, so the rail holds full body weight.
Do exterior stair railings need a handrail and a guard?
Usually, yes: the guard keeps people from falling off the side, and the handrail gives them something to grip. What your stair needs depends on its height and width, and we confirm it at the measure.
Can I get a staircase railing with built-in lighting?
Yes, riser and stair lighting can be built into the run, along with stepped glass panels and matching gates. We show the lighting positions on your drawing before anything is ordered.
